The Fisher House (FH) at Walter Reed National Medical Center is similar in function to the Ronald McDonald House in how it serves the military community when military families’ soldiers have been wounded in combat.
The Walter Reed National Medical Center houses five Fisher House “hotels” where families stay for free while their soldiers are treated at the hospital, including those currently injured during the Iran conflict. The accommodations include bedrooms, full kitchens, dining areas, and patios. After a full day of supporting their soldier in the hospital, they return to the Fisher House where they can make dinner for their family or enjoy a meal from a restaurant. Many families come from across the country and Bethesda can be costly for lengthy stays.
The Republican Women clubs support the Fisher House by collecting items from the Fisher House wish list. If you would care to donate, please contact Martha Hale to arrange a pick up. The first drop-off will be June 23 and the items from the wish list would need to with Martha Hale by June 21. Thank you for your support.
